How To Delete A Workspace In Notion

Introduction

Lots of companies rely on Notion as their primary collaboration platform. However, workspaces have a life cycle and as the creator of one, you might want to remove a workspace once it becomes inactive. You may also wish to leave a workspace or even delete your Notion account.

Instructions for Deleting a Workspace in Notion
If you’re looking to switch workspaces, create a new one or completely abandon Notion, this guide will provide all the necessary information.

Deleting a Workspace

So, if you’ve set up a workspace on Notion and need to delete it for any reason, whether it’s because the team has disbanded or you simply want a fresh start with a new workspace, here’s how you can go about it.

Once inside your workspace, look towards the left side of the screen where you’ll find a list of entries. Locate the entry labeled “Settings & Members,” which is indicated by a gear icon. Click on it. A window will appear and within that window, navigate to the “Settings” tab and scroll all the way down.

At the very bottom, you’ll come across an entry called “Danger zone.” It will have an option to “Delete entire workspace,” highlighted in red. If you’re absolutely certain that deleting the entire workspace is what you want to do, go ahead and click on this option. To confirm your decision, click on “Permanently Delete Workspace.” Before finalizing everything though, make sure to enter the name of your workspace.

Please keep in mind that this action cannot be undone. All content within the workspace will be permanently deleted and access to it will no longer be possible.

Leaving a Workspace

If you find yourself in a workspace that you didn’t create and wish to exit, it’s a straightforward process. In fact, it’s quite common for individuals who change jobs or are no longer involved in specific projects. Here’s how you can leave a workspace.

The process is similar to deleting the entire workspace and can be found in the Danger zone section. To leave a workspace, simply click on “Leave Workspace” and confirm if necessary. By doing so, your access will be revoked from all the content within the workspace, effectively removing you from it.

However, leaving a workspace is not as critical as deleting the entire workspace since you have the option to request an administrator for access even after leaving it.

Deleting a Notion Account

When you decide to delete your Notion account, there are several important things to consider. Firstly, keep in mind that deleting your account will result in the immediate loss of access to all workspaces associated with it. This means that any private workspaces you have created will be permanently deleted. Additionally, any paid plans you have subscribed to will be canceled without the option to reverse this action.

Given these restrictions, it is crucial to exercise caution before proceeding with deleting your Notion account. If you are certain about deleting it, here is a step by step guide;

1. Start by navigating to the left panel and selecting “Settings & Members.”
2. In the sidebar at the top, click on “My account.”
3. Scroll all the way down until you reach the “Danger zone” section within the “My account” tab.
4. Under this section, locate and click on the “Delete my account” option.
5. A window will appear displaying a list of workspaces associated with your account.
6. Below this list, there is a box where you need to enter your email address as a confirmation for deleting your account.
7. Enter your email address and choose “Permanently delete account and [number] workspaces.”
8. Finally, confirm the deletion process and once done, your Notion account will be successfully deleted.

Please remember that this action cannot be undone after confirmation.

Please note that all data and information related to your Notion account will be completely erased and cannot be recovered. Deleting a workspace or a Notion account is a permanent action and even if you decide to create a new account using the same email, you will need to start over from the beginning.

Ditching on Notion

As you can observe, removing or abandoning a workspace, as well as deleting your Notion account, are straightforward and uncomplicated actions. However, it’s important to carefully consider before proceeding with the deletion of a workspace or your entire account. If you are absolutely certain that none of the content within the workspace or associated with your account will be required in the future, then you can follow the provided instructions to remove it from Notion.
